By an illumination from the extend of sight direction 3 of visual work, the diameter of pupils of an operator is made to last to be reduced during the work. By this, effects are possessed to enhance the visibility and to reduce fatigue with the less energy compared with the method of homogeneously illuminating the whole visual field with high illuminance. That is, by reducing the diameter of the pupils, the range of focus is widened, and the effects of enhancing the visibility is yielded. Furthermore, the reason why the contraction of the diameter of the pupils also yields the reduction effect of visual fatigue is that the load of focus accommodation against a visual object is decreased, because the range of focus is widened by the contraction of the diameter of the pupils.
