PURPOSE: To provide a read illumination method which is easy of visual recognition of the vertical face of an object on a road, and does not cause flickering and besides is easy of work execution or maintenance and inspection.
CONSTITUTION: An illuminator 8 is used, which consists of a light source equipment 1 accommodating a light source and a tubular light emitter 2 2mm or over in light leading the beam emitted from the light source device 1 and emitting it. A plurality of these illuminators are installed, nearly continuously on the extension of a road, in the position of 4m or under in height on the road face, and besides the direction of the emission of the light of the light source equipment 1 is turned in the direction of advance of a car.
