To provide an image composition apparatus which can reduce differences in brightness and color balance between cameras, while an entire screen is not affected by a state of a specific camera and the other cameras are not affected by an abnormal state of the specific camera.
The image composition apparatus has a plurality of cameras 2 disposed such that an overlapped portion are formed where imaging ranges of adjacent cameras partially overlap. An image level measurement section 131 measures an image level of the overlapped portion. A correction-value calculation procedure determination section 132 determines a correction-value calculation procedure defining a procedure for calculating a gain correction value on the basis of a ratio of signal level between adjacent cameras in each overlapped portion. A temporary-correction-gain calculation section 133 calculates a temporary gain of each camera 2 for correcting difference in level in the overlapped portion according to the correction-value calculation procedure. A correction gain standardization section 134 standardizes the gain to one for every camera. A corrected gain determination section 135 determines a final gain by comparing the standardized gain and the current gain. An image correction section 14 corrects an image on the basis of the final gain.
