PURPOSE: To complete the input of plural positions of an original by one operation in the case of inputting said positions as independent and different image information by automatically dividing image data inputted by one input work on the basis of division information stored in an auxiliary storage part and accumulating the divided image data as individual data.

CONSTITUTION: When an operator sets up newspaper having plural news items e.g. to be inputted in an image data input part 1, the input part 1 inputs the image information of the newspaper and outputs the data, i.e. image data. An image memory part 2 receives and stored the image data. A memory part 2 divides the stored image data into the image data of respective items on the basis of the division information of the image information stored in the auxiliary storage part 3 and outputs the divided data successively to a compression control part 4. The control part 4 compresses and outputs data obtained from the memory part 2 and a large scale storage part 5 individually stores these compressed image data. Thus, the image information can be efficiently inputted.
