Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve image quality by removing or reducing blocking phenomena indicated at the boundary of the block of decoded image data.
CONSTITUTION: The decoded image data of a present frame from an image signal decoder are stored in a second frame memory 42 and impressed to a threshold value generation circuit 47. Then, a stored target picture element value is taken out and supplied to the buffer 48a of a pixel data correction unit 48 and picture elements composed of a target picture element and the picture element adjacent to it are supplied to a filter 44. Then, the filter 44 generates target pixel data and the pixel data are supplied to a pixel data evaluation circuit 45. In the meantime, the circuit 47 generates a predetermined threshold value and the threshold value is supplied to a second comparator circuit 45b and a pixel data correction circuit 48c inside the pixel data correction unit 48 thereafter. The circuit 48c outputs corrected target pixel data.
