To provide an image display apparatus or the like that can display an image with a plurality of light beams in a simple structure and capable of reducing manufacturing cost.
This is the image display apparatus for displaying an image by scanning a plurality of light beams. The apparatus is equipped with a light source for supplying the light beams and a scanner for scanning such light beams in the X direction, i.e., a first direction and in the Y direction, i.e., a second direction nearly orthogonal to the first in a region to be irradiated. The scanner is driven in the manner that a frequency for scanning the light beams in the X direction is higher than a frequency for scanning the light beams in the Y direction, and that the light beams are scanned in reciprocation in the X direction. The light source is structured so that the sports SP of the light beams in the region to be irradiated are arranged in parallel in the Y direction, and that the parallel arrangement of the spots SP is with an interval d1 equivalent to the width of an odd number of scanning lines for scanning the light beams in the X direction.
