Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device which can make a user suitably visually recognize a virtual image even if an obstacle such as the other vehicle intrudes between the user and a position in which the virtual image is created.SOLUTION: An image is projected on a screen 5 from a projector 4, the image projected to the screen 5 is reflected to a front window 6 of a vehicle 2, and visually recognized by an occupant 7, and thus a virtual image of the image which is visually recognized by the occupant 7 of the vehicle is created. When it is detected that an obstacle approximates a creation position of the virtual image 8, a position in which the virtual image 8 is created is downwardly moved rather than a ground face by changing a position in which the image is projected to the screen 5, and the position in which the virtual image 8 is created downwardly moves rather than the ground face. After that, by changing an optical path length between the screen 5 and a mirror, the position in which the virtual image 8 is created is moved to the occupant 7 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
