The image display apparatus 10 displays an image captured by a camera (e.g., a photographing section 20) on a display screen of a display device. The image display apparatus 10 comprises a planimetric feature specification information storage section 81 which stores planimetric feature specification information for specifying a planimetric feature such as a location or a name. Planimetric feature specification information corresponding to an image captured by the camera is retrieved and the retrieved planimetric feature specification information is displayed on the display screen while being superimposed with the captured image.
