To provide an image display device with which flaws on the surface of a translucent member having an image display section are repaired to an extent of not allowing the recognition of the presence of the flaws even when viewed from all directions at least at a clear view distance.
A liquid packing material 913 having the refractive index approximately the same as the refractive index of a translucent member 906 is locally packed only into the region of the flaw and is cured. The amount of the packing material is so controlled that the difference in level between the surface of the packing material and the surface of the translucent member is below ±5.0 μm and the angle formed by the surface of the translucent member and the end of the packing material is below 45°, more preferably below 10°. As a result, the display quality to the extent that the presence of the flaw is not recognized may be exhibited.
