Abstract:
To provide an image display device easy to be sealed in the vacuum atmosphere, and to provide a method of manufacturing this image display device.
A vacuum outer case of an image display device has a back board and a front board 11 arranged opposite to each other and a side wall 18 provided between both the boards. The inner surface of the front board 11 is formed with a phosphor screen, and an electron emitting element is provided on the back board. Multiple preform glasses 30 are closely arranged between the front board and the side wall and between the back board and the side wall. The preform glass is heated for melting in the vacuum atmosphere so as to fit the front board, the back board and the side wall to each other for sealing.
