To display an image of a specified area, without significantly increasing the circuit scale or a processing load, when the area is specified to display running off one end of the original static image.

An area calculation part 70 calculates the start position and the size of the area for the area, before and after the display area runs off the end, respectively based on the inputted image parameters. Data of the static image are sectionalized line by line and stored in a memory 10. A memory readout part 20 reads out image data of a single line of the area before it runs off the end of the image from the memory 10. A timing controller 40 provides the memory readout part 20 a timing of termination of data output of one line for the area, before it runs off the end, based on the size calculated by the area calculation part 70. The memory readout part 20 translates the readout address to a first pixel of the same line at this timing, and reads out an image of the one line of the area, after it runs off the end from the memory 10.
