Abstract:
To provide an image display device for reducing interference noise while maintaining brightness of two-dimensional images displayed by two dimensional scanning using a coherent light beam.SOLUTION: In an optical scanning device for a two-dimensional image display device, a coherent pixel display beam LC, which is intensity-modulated by an image signal, is two-dimensionally deflected by two-dimensional deflection means 6, and scanned surface elements 8 are two-dimensionally scanned by using the deflected pixel display beam to form a two-dimensional image on the scanned surface elements. The scanned surface element 8 is larger than a beam diameter of the pixel display beam LC. A fine convex lens for diffusing the pixel display beam has a fine convex lens structure in which fine convex lenses are arrayed in close contact with each other at a pitch close to a pixel pitch. In the fine convex lens structure, a radius of curvature r of a surface forming a boundary part with the neighboring fine convex lenses is smaller than wavelength λ of the pixel display beam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
