Abstract:
To realize an image display having a memory characteristic by using a device of a low cost.
A contrast display 3 which gives rise to contrast according to the charges received from outside is joined to a ferroelectric substance 2 and this ferroelectric substance 2 is scanned with an IR laser beam 5 carrying, for example, image information to apply heat of a distribution state corresponding to the image information, by which the polarity inversion patterns based on the image information are formed on the ferroelectric substance 2. The contrast is generated on the contrast display 3 by the surface charges corresponding to these polarity inversion patterns, by which the images are displayed.
