To provide the system and method for cursor movement on a display screen which can precisely position a cursor without hiding a target position.

A target area 32 is positioned at a distance from the cursor 30 on a touch sensor type display image 14. The target area 32 is movable from a 3rd position to a 4th position on a touch sensor type display screen as a user touches the touch sensor screen in the region of the target area 32 and drags the target area 32 from the 3rd position to the 4th position. The cursor 30 moves from a 1st position to a 2nd position as the target area 32 is dragged from the 3rd position to the 4th position.
