In the image element, a dye formed by reaction with the oxidized body of a compound of formula I coexists with a fixed compound of formula II in a binder on the substrate. In the formula I, Z is carbamoyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, sulfonyl or sulfamoyl and Q is a group of atoms forming an unsaturated ring together with C. In the formula II, the N- containing cyclic structure is an N-containing non-aromatic ring having ≥3 ring forming members, X is H, alkoxy, aryloxy, an oxy radical group, hydroxyl or the like and Y is a group capable of forming a covalent bond by a chemical reaction with a reactive group contained in the binder.
