Abstract:
To improve the encoding efficiency of a direct mode of an encoding system for selecting two optional reference frames from a plurality of reference frames and performing inter-frame prediction by interpolation prediction.
A scaling coefficient table for a direct mode which stores a plurality of scaling coefficients for the direct mode is provided, a direct mode coefficient is selected and used in accordance with a first relative index value of the direct mode, and a motion vector for the direct mode which takes into consideration a display time difference between an encoding object frame and a reference frame can thereby be generated, therefore being able to improve the encoding efficiency in the direct mode.
