To provide an image fixing device capable of sufficient fixing property even when a liquid developer contains a dispersion accelerator.
The image forming apparatus is provided with the image fixing device, which heats and fixes an unfixed image on transfer paper P as a recording medium at a heat fixation part 950 by using a liquid developer containing toner particles and carrier liquid as liquid. The liquid developer contains a dispersion accelerator to improve dispersion of toner in the carrier liquid and this dispersion accelerator contains a reactive organic group as a reaction group. Further, the image fixing device is equipped with a setting agent coating part 930b as a coating means upstream from the heat fixation part in the conveyance direction of transfer paper P. The setting agent coating part 930 is equipped with a setting agent coating roller 931b which applies a setting agent as a substrate reacting to a reactive group in the dispersion accelerator to the unfixed image on the transfer paper P.
