Abstract:
To improve color shift inhibition processing by adjusting control values other than a dot area ratio in patches for color shift adjustment.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a plurality of developing units that each attach a toner from a toner layer to a photoreceptor on the basis of a developing bias potential and an electrostatic latent image; and a calibration processing unit that executes calibration processing for color shift detection of calibrating a developing bias potential for color shift detection with the assumption of a dot area ratio for color shift detection that is used for forming patches for color shift detection for detecting color shift between a plurality of images formed by the plurality of developing units, and calibration processing for image formation of calibrating a developing bias potential for image formation with the assumption of a dot area ratio for image formation that is a dot area ratio for forming images and lower than the dot area ratio for color shift detection. The calibration processing unit forms the patches for color shift detection by using the developing bias potential for color shift detection, and adjusts relative positions of the plurality of images formed by the plurality of developing units to inhibit color shift between the images.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
