To provide an image forming apparatus capable of providing excellent images with the use of a stable cleaning device which in a digital high-speed electrophotographic process, does not spoil the wear resistance of a photoreceptor, causes little photoreceptor deterioration such as filming, and causes no faulty cleaning for a small-particle-diameter spherical toner.
The image forming apparatus has, around a photoreceptor, a charging means, an exposure means, a developing means, a transfer means, a fixing means and a cleaning means and uses a toner having a volume average particle diameter of ≤7 μm and a circularity of ≥0.94, wherein the cleaning means has an elastic blade and the action force of the elastic blade produced in a tangential direction of the photoreceptor surface when the elastic blade comes in contact with the photoreceptor is larger than contact force produced by contact of the elastic blade in a normal line direction of the photoreceptor.
