To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by which an image of high image quality is outputted even when a recording sheet of a large size is outputted after recording sheets of a small size are mainly outputted successively, and also to provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus by which wasteful power consumption is prevented.
The image forming apparatus is provided with a transfer means for transferring a toner image onto a recording sheet, a fixing means for fixing a transferred toner image onto the recording sheet, and a post-fixing cutting means for cutting the fixed recording sheet into a desired size. Further, the image forming apparatus is provided with a control means by which, when the recording sheet of a desired size is outputted, toner image is transferred and fixed onto a first recording sheet from which two or more recording sheets of the requested size can be secured in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the conveyance of the recording sheet, and then the recording sheet is cut into the desired size and they are outputted.
