To provide an image formation technology capable of adjusting image formation control in which printing productivity decrease is minimized.
Each time an image forming section 12 carries out image formation, a CPU 9 of an engine 14 determines whether the cumulative number of prints has reached a predetermined number. If the result of the determination is positive, the CPU 9 determines that the time to adjust the image formation control has reached. When determining that the time to adjust image formation control has reached, the CPU 9 requests a CPU 1 of a controller 7 to provide image formation history during a predetermined period, and obtains it. Then, the CPU 9 analyzes the image formation history and determines whether to adjust the image formation control or not. The CPU 9 determines whether to adjust the image formation control or not by determining from the result of the analysis whether the text data rate is equal to or higher than a reference value. If the determination is made that the text data rate is lower than the reference value, the CPU 9 determines that it is necessary for the image formation control to be adjusted.
