To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces toner scatter, image soil, and an increase in the internal temperature of the image forming apparatus.
The image forming apparatus has an image carrier, a developing means, a cleaner, a recycled toner carrying device, one or more exhaust devices, and exhaust passage or passages included in the exhaust device or devices. In the image forming apparatus, the exhaust device or devices have one or more exhaust passages, a sensor disposed above the recycled toner carrying device detects an amount of recycle toner or an amount of paper dust sticking to the recycle toner, which is carried within the recycle toner carrying device, and one or more amounts of current of air are controlled when at least either one of the detected amounts reaches a specific value.
