To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the trailing end of transfer paper from being soiled, when a transfer material with an image transferred thereto is guided with a guide member.

The image forming apparatus includes a transfer conveyance device 5 which transfers an image on a photoreceptor drum 1 to transfer paper by holding and conveying the transfer paper by a transfer belt 11 so that the transfer paper is passed through a transfer position, which faces a photoreceptor drum 1 in contact with the photoreceptor drum 1; a transfer exit guide plate 21 for receiving and guiding the transfer paper separated from the transfer belt 11 of the transfer conveyance device 5; and a fixing entrance guide plate 22 for receiving and guiding the transfer paper guided by the transfer exit guide plate 21. In the image forming apparatus, a vertical difference at position between the downstream end of the transfer exit guide plate 21 in the direction of transfer paper guide and the upstream end of the fixing entrance guide plate 22 in the direction of transfer paper guide is set so that force with which the trailing end of the transfer paper scrapes toner on the guide face of the transfer exit guide plate 21 does not act on the guide face when the trailing end of the transfer paper is separated from the transfer exit guide plate 21.
