To provide a long-life image forming apparatus which achieves higher image quality by faithfully forming an electrostatic latent image of higher definition than that obtained by using a small diameter beam having diameter of 50 μm for a write light source, reduces production of an abnormal image, such as scumming, even after long-term repeated use, and achieves both the higher image quality to maintain the higher quality image and the higher stability.
In the image forming apparatus, an electrophotographic photoreceptor is subjected to charging by a charging means so as to make electric field intensity ≥30 V/μm, optical writing is carried out to the electrophotographic photoreceptor by using a light source of ≤50 μm in beam diameter for an exposure means; the electrophotographic photoreceptor is constituted by successively laminating at least a charge blocking layer, a moire preventive layer, a photosensitive layer and a protective layer on a conductive support, and the protective layer is formed by curing at least a trifunctional or higher functional radical polymerizable monomer not having a charge transfer characteristic structure and a monofunctional radical polymerizable compound having a charge transfer characteristic structure.
