To provide an image forming apparatus in which operability is improved without actuating an auto clear function at the same time as transfer to power saving mode.

The image forming apparatus includes: a power control means 51 that switches a power control state of the apparatus after a lapse of a first set time to a power-saving mode for the reduction of power consumption from a regular mode; an auto clear means 52 by which a display menu of an operating section operated and set after a lapse of a second set time is reset to the initial menu; and a time altering and setting means 53 by which the first set time or second set time can be altered and set from the initial set value. In the image forming apparatus, when at least the first set time is set shorter than the second set time in time relationship, the data corresponding to the display menu is retained until the second set time lapses even after the lapse of the first set time.
