The image forming apparatus is provided with a storage means storing a function item, corresponding to a plurality of functions which can be provided, a plurality of errors indicating faults in the apparatus, preventing execution of the functions and a plurality of error cancel screens which are screens displaying procedures for canceling the errors, in association with them as an error table; a display means for selectably displaying setting conditions related to a single function; a measuring means for measuring passage of time, after an input during display of setting conditions related to the one function above; a search means for searching whether an error has occurred, concerning all of a plurality of the functions, when the measured passage of time has exceeded a prescribed switching time; and a switching means for displaying an error cancel screen corresponding to the error, when the error is detected by the search and displaying a registration screen, when the error is not detected.
