Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent the occurrence of tension and looseness of a recording target medium to accurately perform alignment of images formed on both sides of the recording target medium.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: a fixing device 40; and image position detection means 10 that conveys a recording target medium S and detects the position of an image formed on the recording target medium S, and is provided on the downstream side of the fixing device 40 in a conveyance direction of the recording target medium. The image forming apparatus has a detection mode for forming detection images K on both sides of the recording target medium S. Both the fixing device 40 and the image position detection means 10 can vary the conveyance speed of the recording target medium S. In the detection mode, the image forming apparatus conveys the recording target medium S on both sides of which the detection images K are formed to the fixing device 40 and the image position detection means 10 a plurality of times while inverting the recording target medium, sequentially changes, during each conveyance, the speed of conveyance performed by the fixing device 40 and/or the image position detection means 10 to measure the positions of the detection images K, and causes control means 20 to determine the speed of conveyance performed by the fixing device 40 and the image position detection means 10 based on results of the measurement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
