Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that can specify the cause of communication failure with a memory that stores information on the life of a replacement part and appropriately isolate the cause of the failure in memory communication.SOLUTION: When a failure in memory communication occurs between two or more process units 1(a to d) and an image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus determines that the cause of the communication failure is a failure in high-voltage contacts (17, 18), performs display for prompting checking of the high-voltage contacts (17, 18) on an operation unit 202, and stops the memory communication until the failure in memory communication is resolved. When a failure in memory communication occurs between one process units 1(a to d) and the image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus specifies that its cause is a failure in memory contacts (232, 235) of the process unit 1, and performs display for prompting checking of the memory contacts (232, 235) on the operation unit 202.
