Abstract:
To securely delete data stored in non-volatile memories.SOLUTION: A MFP 1 comprising a second non-volatile memory 22 and a print unit 12 divides the second non-volatile memory 22 into an A drive 73 and a B drive 75 by partitions using a file system, stores unencrypted user data into the A drive 73 and stores encrypted system data into the B drive 75. Key information 51 corresponding to the encrypted system data is stored in a third non-volatile memory 23 separate from the second non-volatile memory 22. The MFP 1 completely deletes the A drive 73 if an instruction to delete the user data is received, and deletes first key information 51a corresponding to a first system data file 86a from the third non-volatile memory 23 if an instruction to delete the first system data file 86a is received.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
