Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent a reduction in image quality due to vibration from a portion related to the entire sheet conveyance system.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus forms images on photoreceptor drums 2 acting as image carriers, primarily transfers the images formed on the photoreceptor drums 2 to a primary transfer body 71 at primary transfer parts TP1, and secondarily transfers the images primarily transferred onto the primary transfer body 71 to a sheet P at a secondary transfer part TP2. The primary transfer body 71 is provided with a space area SP that is equal to or more than the maximum size in a conveyance direction M of the sheet P and is on the downstream side of the primary transfer parts TP1 and the upstream side of the secondary transfer part TP2 in the conveyance direction M the images. From the start of an image forming operation on the photoreceptor drums 2 until the completion of a primary transfer operation on the primary transfer body 71, the image forming apparatus stops operations other than the image forming operation on the photoreceptor drums 2 and the primary transfer operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
