Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reproduce the stable taste of color in spite of the shift of the writing position of dots and obtain a high-quality image without lowering the resolution by making the center of a dot close to the center of a pixel as in a conventional manner when a high-density image is to be formed.
CONSTITUTION: Laser beams from a laser light source are formed as a beam spot on an image carrier body by an image forming optical system. The beam spot is relatively scanned to the image carrier body thereby to form an image on the image carrier body in this image forming apparatus. A triarngular wave 11a for forming an image is made asymmetric in a time interval dt when pixels are traced, and moreover, the vertex of the triangular wave is shifted to different positions for each color in the main scanning direction. Accordingly, the center position of a dot is shifted for each color within one pixel when the density is low, thereby to prevent overlapping of dots of each color when the image density is low. Moreover, when a high-density image is to be formed, the center of a dot is made close to the center of a pixel as in the prior art, thereby to avoid the deterioration of the resolution.
