Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance printing quality without increasing the light emitting number of times of LED elements per one pixel.
SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus wherein a large number of LED elements arranged on a line are divided into a plurality of blocks and a time is shifted at every block to control the lighting of the LED elements according to image data to emit light a plurality of times per one pixel, the electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive member is shifted in a sub-scanning direction at every block of the LED elements by the relative movement of the photosensitive member and the LED elements while the shift quantity (y) thereof is reduced by emitting light from the LED elements a plurality of times. A plurality of light emitting times per one pixel of the LED elements are also set to two kinds of different times and, for example, the first and final light emitting times of the LED elements per one pixel are made shorter than other light emitting times. By this constitution, the shift quantity (y) of the electrostatic latent image in the sub-scanning direction is sharply reduced without increasing the light emitting number of times from the LED elements per one pixel.
