The cutting number of times of roll paper by a cutter is counted by a counter 24 and the cumulated cutting number of times thereof is stored in a memory 25. The life of the cutter is preliminarily stored in an ROM 21a and, when the cumulated cutting number of times becomes large, a CPU 21 judges whether the cumulated cutting number of times corresponds to the life. When the life of the cutter is judged to be exhausted, this state is displayed on a display device 26.
