To provide an image forming device, capable of executing stable skew correction to transfer material, and achieving printing position precision without being affected by disposition deflection of a skew detecting sensor or the like, correction precision tolerance of a drive roller, difference in paper kinds of recording material, etc., and a control method thereof.
This image forming device is provided with a printer part 13 to form images on the transfer material, a carrying roller 4-1 to carry the transfer material, skew detecting sensors 2-4a and 2-4b to detect carrying deflection to the transfer material, and skew rollers 2-3a and 2-3b to correct carrying deflection to the transfer material based on detection result of the skew detection sensors 2-4a and 2-4b. Such a mode is provided that a prescribed mark is formed on the transfer material after carrying deflection is corrected by the skew rollers 2-3a and 2-3b, and position relation between an end part of the transfer material and the mark is detected by the skew detecting sensors 2-4a and 2-4b.
