PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately control whether to change a threshold of TONER LOW.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: image forming means that performs image formation using a recording material; notification means that performs notification to a user when a remaining amount of the recording material reaches a threshold; changing means that changes a threshold according to the user's instruction; and control means that permits a change in threshold by the changing means when a recording material storage part is a predetermined one, and restricts a change in threshold by the changing means when the recording material storage part is not the predetermined one. The image forming apparatus permits a change in threshold of TONER LOW when a cartridge is a predetermined one, and inhibits a change in threshold of TONER LOW when the cartridge is not the predetermined one.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
