This image forming device includes a carriage 23 where a recording head 24 for discharging droplet and which is scanned in a main scanning direction orthogonally crossing a sheet transfer direction, the transfer belt 31 that transfers sheet facing the recording head 23, a means that forms a reference pattern 400 for detecting belt deformation at the predetermined scanning direction position on the transfer belt 31, a pattern detecting sensor 401 that consists of a light emitting means that irradiates light to the reference pattern 400 and a light receiving means for receiving regular reflection light from the reference pattern 400, and a means that detects the deflection amount of the transfer belt 31 based on distance between one end part of the transfer belt 31 and the reference pattern 400 read by the sensor 401.
