Abstract:
To perform highly accurate correction that is not affected by reading noise of a gradation pattern for test and the like when performing head shading correction.SOLUTION: The present invention is applied to an image formation apparatus which performs image formation in a prescribed gradation number to a printing medium by performing halftone processing. The image formation apparatus comprises: a recording unit which performs image formation on a printing medium conveyed in a conveyance direction orthogonal to a prescribed direction by line heads arrayed in the prescribed direction; an image reading unit 26 which reads a gradation pattern for test printed on the printing medium by the recording unit; and a control unit 40 which acquires the image read by the image reading unit 26, obtains characteristic data for each gradation and corrects the nonuniformity in the characteristics in the prescribed direction of a recording head from the obtained characteristic data. Here, the control unit 40 sets the length in the conveyance direction reading the gradation in one stage of the gradation pattern for test in accordance with the halftone processing in order to acquire the characteristic data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
