This device is an image forming device to obtain a toner image by forming the toner image on the surface of a photoreceptor by an electrophotographic process and secondarily transferring the toner image on a recording material after primarily transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 3; and possesses a reference mark 31 provided on the intermediate transfer belt 3, a detecting means 5 detecting the reference mark 31 and a timing controlling means 6 controlling the electrophotographic process so as to primarily transfer the toner image at a specified position on the intermediate transfer belt 3 by specified timing after the detecting means 5 detects the reference mark 31. In this case, a changing means 1 to change timing to primarily transfer the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 3 after the detecting means 5 detects the reference mark 31 for each image forming is provided.
