To enable a display device necessary for releasing jamming to be viewed even if the upper cover of a main body is opened or the like in case of jamming, without changing the structure of a conventional image forming device.
The jam detection part 3 of the main body 1 decides the jam releasing position upon detecting the occurrence of jamming. A cover opening/closing detection part 4 detects whether the cover is opened or closed. When the opening of the cover is detected, a jam releasing method is displayed on the display device 5 arranged on the rear surface of the cover or the inserting/withdrawing device of an image forming device 2, while lighting a light emitting element such as an LED or the like provided to the inserting/withdrawing device of the image forming device 2 which has to be removed to release jamming or to a lever. The jam detection part 3 confirms whether the inserting/withdrawing device is operated to release the jamming or not. When the jam release is confirmed, the display on the display device 5 arranged on the inserting/withdrawing device of the image forming device 2 is released. When the display device is locked again, the light emitting element such as the LED or the like is turned off.
