To prevent the supply deficiency of an ionic conductive medium in a liquid form and to prevent the occurrence of an electrostatic charging defect on the surface of an image carrying medium by supplying a prescribed amount of the ionic conductive medium in the liquid form from a liquid storage section to an electrostatic charging member before the transfer to an image forming stage at the restart or the like right after the occurrence of a jam.
This device is so constituted that the prescribed amount of the ionic conductive medium 24 in the liquid form is supplied to the electrostatic charging pad 21 from the liquid storage section 22 before the transfer to the image forming stage at the restart right after the occurrence of the jam or at the restart right after the operation is stopped for a specified period. Even if, therefore, a large amount of toners plunge into the electrostatic charging pad 21 in the event of the occurrence of the jam or even when the image forming device is stopped for the specified period, the prescribed amount of the ionic conductive medium 24 in the liquid form may be supplied by a pump 28 to the electrostatic charging pad 21. The occurrence of the supply deficiency of the ionic conductive medium 24 in the liquid form is thereupon prevented and the occurrence of the electrostatic charging defect on the surface of a phptoreceptor drum 1 may be prevented.
