Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize relative positions of two pulleys to which a belt is installed for maintaining tension applied to the belt constant.SOLUTION: The carriage scanning movement mechanism comprises: a drive pulley positioned and fixed to one side of a stay bolt extending in a main scanning direction; a following pulley positioned on the other side; and a belt installed between the pulleys and connected to a carriage. A first holder holding the following pulley is connected to the stay bolt so as to displace freely in the main scanning direction. A spring for pressing the first holder against a direction opposing to a direction of the drive pulley in the main scanning direction is interposed between the first holder and a second holder which is fixed to the stay bolt. Pressing force of the spring with respect to the first holder is changeable. and the first and second holders comprise a portion for recognizing relative positions in the main scanning direction respectively. When adjusting the pressing force of the spring, the relative positions of them is recognized from a relative position relationship of the portions.
