Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of prolonging the lives of consumable articles such as a photoreceptor drum and a toner in spite of the mixed mounting of a monochrome original and a color original and improving the use efficiency in the image forming device such as a copying machine having the function of switching a color mode and a monochrome mode.
SOLUTION: In the case that a monochrome original comes out during printing in a color mode, this device computes a loss which occurs when the mode is switched to a monochrome mode and a loss which occurs when the monochrome original is printed in the color mode without switching the mode respectively (S307). Based on the result of comparing the both, the device judges whether or not it is necessary to switch to the monochrome mode, (S309).
