PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of improving a user's ease of use without impairing the service property for user and an image forming method applied to this image forming device.
SOLUTION: A finisher 59 is provided with a tray unit having a plurality of lifting trays T1 to T3. Distance measuring sensors S1 to S3 measuring a height of loaded paper sheets are provided on these trays T1 to T3, respectively. First, a paper sheet discharged from a copier main body 2 is loaded on the first tray T1 by a pair of a first discharge roller 59A and a second discharge roller 59B. It is judged whether the discharged paper sheets are an end of the number of paper sheets or not when a loading height on the first tray reaches 90% of the maximum loading height based on an output from the distance measuring sensor S1. When the paper sheet which becomes an end of the number of paper sheets is discharged, the tray for discharging paper sheet is changed.
