Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten first print time while suppressing contamination on a recording member in an image forming apparatus including plural image carriers.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: horizontal synchronism detection means 54 for detecting light emitted from a light source device 81cl of first image forming means and reflected on a rotary polygon mirror 53; and an engine controller 40 for executing a detection operation so as to cause the horizontal synchronism detection means 54 to detect light for plural times by causing the light source device 81cl of the first image forming means to continuously emit light. Further, the engine controller 40 performs the aforementioned detection operation before the first image forming means executes an image forming operation; the first image forming means starts moving a development sleeve 92cl to a development position prior to the detection operation; and toner used for developing a latent image by the first image forming means is clear toner.
