Abstract:

To provide an image forming apparatus that, in an aspect where the apparatus includes on its upper part an opening/closing body and a tilt-type operation panel, can avoid the operation panel from becoming an obstacle to an opening/closing operation of the opening/closing body and ensure the safety of an operator.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an opening/closing body 40 that is rotatably connected to an upper part of a document placement platen 31 and can be displaced between an open state and a closed state; a document reading unit 30; an image forming unit 20; and an operation panel 50 that is rotatably connected to a rotation end of the opening/closing body 40 via a hinge mechanism such that its rotation end faces the opening/closing body, and can be displaced between a horizontal state and a standing state. The opening/closing body 40 has an opening/closing sensor 44, a holding part 42, and a holding sensor 43. The operation panel 50 has an operation surface whose height in the horizontal state is lower than the holding part 42 of the opening/closing body 40 and is at least partially arranged in an area overlapping the holding part 42 in a direction along a rotation shaft of the opening/closing body 40. The image forming apparatus includes a mechanism that maintains or displaces the operation panel 50 in or to the horizontal state in an opening/closing operation of the opening/closing body 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
