PURPOSE: To prolong the lives of various members without making a device large and complicated by coupling a brush cleaning unit, a transfer belt cleaning unit, a heat shielding unit and a transfer roller with one driving motor so that press-contact and the release of the press-contact may be performed.
CONSTITUTION: The transfer roller 11, the brush cleaning unit 18, the heat shielding unit 19 and the transfer belt cleaning unit 16 are coupled with a press- contact and releasing device through eccentric cam mechanisms 56 and 63 and a coupling mechanism. By generating a copying start signal, the roller 11 and a brush roller are allowed to abut on a photoreceptor drum 1, and a brush roller for a transfer belt is allowed to abut on a transfer belt 9, then the entrance part of a thermal fixing unit 12 is opened by a heat shielding plate 42. By generating a releasing signal, the roller 11 and the brush roller are separated from the drum 1, the brush roller for the transfer belt is separated from the belt 9, and the entrance part of the unit 12 is closed. Thus, the lives of the component members of various units are prolonged without making the device large and complicated.
