PURPOSE: To prevent malfunction and form a superior image stably by detecting the kind of a recording material and varying a fixing speed and temperature according to the detection signal.
CONSTITUTION: The kind detection information signal of the recording material which is detected by a recording material detecting means 24 is converted into a speed and a temperature signal by a converting means 43 on the basis of the relation of a setting means 40 and they are sent to a comparing means 41. The comparing means 41 compares a speed and a temperature signal from a manual speed and temperature setting means 40 with the signals from the converting means to discriminate whether the recording material suited requirements set manually; when so a control means 44 operates to operate a driving means 46 for a rotating body for fixation and a heater driving means 52 on the set speed and temperature conditions. Consequently, malfunction is prevented and the superior image is formed stably.
