To provide an image forming method and apparatus in which faulty cleaning is not caused even in the case of using spherical toner and wear of a photoreceptor is also suppressed, so that good images can be output over a prolonged period of time.
The image forming method includes: charging an electrostatic latent image carrier by discharge caused by applying a voltage including an AC component to a charging member disposed in contact or contiguity with the electrostatic latent image carrier; developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the electrostatic latent image carrier with toner; and cleaning the electrostatic latent image carrier with a blade, wherein a crosslinked layer formed by curing at least a radically polymerizable monomer having no charge transport structure and a radically polymerizable compound having a charge transport structure is used as a surface layer of the electrostatic latent image carrier, an additive of the toner contains at least one lubricant, and a relationship of 1≤A/(B-0.9)≤6 is established between the amount A (wt.%) of the lubricant added and the circularity B of the toner.
