To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus which can suppress occurrence of bleeding even when a treating liquid is not applied.
The image forming method includes: a step for forming an ink image on an intermediate transfer body by discharging a conductive ink in which a pigment is dispersed in a water with an anionic dispersant from nozzles of a recording head; and a step for transferring the ink image formed on the intermediate transfer body to a recording medium, wherein the conductive ink contains a resin having an anionic group, and the intermediate transfer body has a conductive surface. In a state that voltage is applied between the conductive ink and the conductive surface, a bridge of a liquid column comprising the conductive ink is temporarily formed between the nozzle and the intermediate transfer body, and the pigment is aggregated by producing a proton by oxidizing a water contained in the bridge of the liquid column near the conductive surface to form the ink image on the intermediate transfer body.
