To provide an image forming method which enables the selection of a required image area such as sharply reproducing end parts or the like of an image pattern in the image forming method consisting of a primary transfer which forms the image pattern on an image receiving and adhesive layer of an intermediate transfer film from a thermal transfer ribbon by a heating means and a secondary transfer which transfers this image pattern to a body to be transferred, and to provide an image forming body.

In the image forming method and the image forming body, an adhesive transfer layer 40 with no coloring material layer is repeatedly provided in the order of faces after regions of respective coloring material layers (Y, M, C and BK) of thermal transfer ribbon 15, and after a reverse image pattern 12 by transferring from the coloring material layers of these four colors is formed on the intermediate transfer film 20, the non-image part 14 of the reverse image pattern is reversely transferred on the adhesive transfer layer 40.
